i believe therapy is sacred, embodied work—an intentional and collaborative process that honors the vulnerability, courage, and wisdom each client brings into the space.
I aim to be culturally aware and responsive, grounded in the belief that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for healing. Through somatic and trauma-informed approaches, i honor the interconnectedness of mind, body, and lived experience. here Healing is held as a sacred partnership, guided by trust, cultural humility, and deep respect between client and therapist.
modalities & Scope
Improving your relationship with your mind & body
I am trained as a marriage and family therapist, which speaks more to the lens through which I work than to the specific therapy I offer. I have had the pleasure of working with various populations from teens to older adults, in numerous settings. As an MFT, however I am trained to understand mental health challenges from a systemic perspective. Using the family system as a guiding framework, I recognize that a client’s suffering does not exist in isolation, but is shaped and sustained through interconnected relationship dynamics, patterns, and environments. I work with clients to build insight around these dynamics and build ways to support themselves through them and build a more sustainable and accessible life for themselves
somatic therapy
You may be able to tell me how you feel, but can you tell me how you KNOW you feel that way. What sensations, cues, behaviors, etc let you know the state of your mood? I encourage this attunement through somatic work with client’s because it speaks to the conversation going on between our mind and body. Somatic therapy understands we cannot just talk or think our feelings away. Healing is an embodied experience. Often when we feel stuck in our patterns even when we no better it is because the mind and the body are not on the same page.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
Even though EMDR is a mouth full to say, it is actually a simple concept. We all know the feeling of catching a whiff of a familiar smell and it taking us right back to a memory and feeling. The smell or sensory cue is a reflection of how our mind and body stores memories. For some of us these memories are painful and traumatic. EMDR uses researched and evidenced based techniques to work with these traumatic stored memories and offers a path towards healing that takes into consideration the mind body connection.
